I just finished some new paintings and added bracelets to my wall this past month.  I was in a fall mood so one of the paintings is filled with crimson, russet,brilliant yellows and even some cobalt. The other larger one is darker and a little moody.

The bracelets I kept simple and are slip on bangles with natural gems and silver.

I began sculpting in 1998 after a powerful dream which instructed me in the language of sculpture. I was working as a nurse at the time, but the power of the dream moved me to pursue sculpting full time. I remain, for the most part, “self taught”, drawing inspiration from a visceral feeling and subconscious emotions which are infused into my work.
All my pieces are one of a kind.  I tend to focus heavily on a theme or emotion for time, until I’m moved to change focus. I’m partial to the medium of clay because it is quite literally “earth” and it shapes into form by way of my own consciousness, thoughts and emotions.  My hands in clay feels primal and it connects me deeply to the source. My work explores the very basic tenants of what it means to be human. When I am successful at drawing these emotions into the clay and it responds, the viewer feels and understand what I have felt.  In this way – and through this process – we come to understand that behind all human facades we share some deep universal truths, and when we allow it, art can connect us to those truths. The truths of beauty, love, support, joy, and all the other emotions we share.
I work at “Made in Ojai” from 2:00pm-4:00pm on Friday’s.
